Mission Money

At FPC, it is important that we are benefiting the community that our building is within. It is also important that we serve God through our work in the county, the country, and the world! Last year, our mission work was the most important work we did!

Our biggest fundraiser and project is the Glad Tidings gift cards. These are given to people in the community with a set amount per person in their household. These cards then can be spent at County Market to buy food for the family during the holidays! We work with the Salvation Army, the Dwelling Place, and other organizations to get the lists of names for these cards.

Mission and Partners

The mission of our church isn't just in what we do, but it is also the tenants in our building! We have many office spaces open and we are blessed to have so many mission partners using these spaces. For details about these organizations, please contact them directly or email our office to get information for them.

The Dwelling Place Day Center of Vermilion County

“We are a faith-based ministry dedicated to the homeless and those at risk of homelessness and to providing each person we encounter acceptance, grace, compassion and friendship. The core mission of The Dwelling Place is to develop relationships through a Christ-like love with those who feel lost, displaced or powerless.”

The Dwelling Place Day Center is a daytime safe haven for all residents of the community. It is an open door, when others are closed, and offers our neighbors daytime sanctuary and basic survival services. At our Center neighbors can find daytime reprieve from the winter cold and be offered a hot cup of coffee and from the summer heat and find waiting a soothing coolness. Everyone is greeted with smiles and welcoming words. The Dwelling Place Day Center is a place of Christian support, of hope, and of friendship and connections!

Their other services are a basic hygiene pantry, emergency food service for the day, and Immanuel’s House 1 and House 2.  They are open on Mondays and Fridays from 10-3.

Liberty Healthcare Corporation, The Freedom to Succeed.

Liberty Healthcare was founded to provide cost effective, quality healthcare management. In an era of rapid changes in ownership and bottom line-oriented decision making, Liberty's consistent leadership has kept the company focused on customer service and flexible, outcomes-driven delivery. William Beckett is a Conditional Release Agent at Liberty Healthcare Corporation.  He works with parole officers at times as well in his work.

Lori DeYoung

Lori provides much-needed mental health services, counseling, and parenting educational resources for adults and children involved in the child welfare system in and around the Danville area.

Peer Court, Inc.

Peer Court, Inc. was established in 1993 to add a new concept of diversion and accountability to our Juvenile Justice System. It is directed toward juvenile misdemeanor offenders who have admitted guilt or participation in an offense. Peer Court involves a teen jury system which brings together juvenile offenders, their peers and community agencies to determine consequences for the offenses. Referrals are taken from law enforcement agencies and typically include offenses such as retail theft, drug and alcohol violations, disorderly conduct, curfew, etc. The teen court holds hearings to determine the circumstances of the offense and develop contracts with the offenders, which include restitution, apologies, community service work, and educational programs.

Peer Court relies upon youth volunteers to serve as jurors, clerks, bailiffs, and attorneys. These volunteers come from all over Vermilion County and should be between the ages of 10 and 17 or still in high school. Volunteers participate in actual trials and are able to see the consequences of teen related decisions and issues in a firsthand experience. Parents are welcome, but not required, to observe court with the volunteers.

Many times, this participation encourages dialogue between parents and their children about important teen related issues.

Peer Court is a United Way Agency.

Katie Osterbur is the head of the Peer Court office, occupied at the northeast end of the second floor.  She is here a few times per week and by appointment only with families.  They also have board meetings quarterly, and special project times when scheduled.

Vermilion County Restoration!

“Because only together we can!”  It is their mission, that no need is too small and no voice too quiet, to be heard. “We are an Illinois non-profit corporate organization committed to helping the homeless and disadvantaged. Our goal is to see clients rehabilitated, restored to their families, employed, and living productive lives in the community through the power of the Gospel applied to their lives.

They educate, advocate, demonstrate, and feed every man that comes through their doors so that they become effective contributing members of society. Our doors are open to provide emergency housing for homeless men and veterans who have need of shelter. Transitional housing may be provided for up to 90 days.

Two free community meals are provided a day, as well as on Sundays and holidays at 4:00 pm. (Times subject to change.)

A key to recovery is giving residents the skills, training, and tools they need to be able to effectively re-integrate into our community.

Through work and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, residents gain skills and confidence to move forward in a productive, positive life.

When needs go beyond our services, we coordinate with other local agencies. This includes help with housing, employment, and more.

Several programs are provided including a New Life Discipleship Program and a Twelve-Month Recovery /Discipleship Program.
